A slipped disc is a common term for an ailment also known as a herniated disc. Basically, this happens when one of the intervertebral discs in your spine slides or is pressed out of alignment through extreme use or misuse of your spine. This can happen to pretty much anyone, assuming they do the wrong things.

To be more specific, the discs in your spine allow the it to be flexible while also serving as shock absorbers. Sometimes they cant absorb the strain put on them and are pushed out from in between the vertebrae above and below them. This can put pressure on nerves in the spinal cord and in the muscles outside of the spine. This is literally a slipped disk.

Fixing a Slipped Disc
Fixing a slipped disc can range from easy to very difficult. Many times simple conservative treatment will work just fine. But some cases can lead eventually to back surgery.

A discectomy, a microdiscectomy, spinal fusion, and a disc arthroplasty are all procedures that one can undergo once those conservative treatments are exhausted. Of course, you should do more research on this condition and talk to a doctor (or two) before considering actual surgery of any kind. Surgery is a very important issue and should never be taken lightly.
